Anderson Cummings Sponsors Neuroblastoma Run and Walk

walking on sidewalk during daytimeAnderson Cummings was pleased to sponsor and participate in this year’s Neuroblastoma Run and Walk to benefit the Cook Children’s Neuroblastoma Fund to help children and their families battling this difficult disease.

Several staff members participated in the ninth annual event hosted by the Neuroblastoma Foundation at the Acme Brick Headquarters on March 26. The event featured a 10k, 5k and one mile fun run/walk.

All of the proceeds from the event go directly to Cook Children’s in support of their efforts to provide leading edge care for neuroblastoma.

The hospital is one of 15 hospitals throughout the country invited to join the New Approaches to Neuroblastoma Therapy consortium, which specializes in neuroblastoma research. Through this collaboration, they have been able to enroll patients in new clinical trials.

Cook Children’s is also the only cancer center in Texas and throughout the Southwest with a lead-lined room for MIBG therapy, an important treatment for refractory or relapsed neuroblastoma.

Neuroblastoma is a cancer found in the adrenal glands of the kidneys that can develop in the stomach, chest, neck, pelvis and bones. It is most common in children five-years-old and younger. According to Cook Children’s website, more than 13,500 children are diagnosed with cancer every year in the U.S.

Anderson Cummings is proud to continue its commitment to supporting our community through worthy causes such as this.
