loading stretcher into ambulanceThree people were killed and one injured person was taken to the emergency room after an SUV crashed into a vacant parked truck in West Dallas on Monday, Oct. 10.

The collision occurred around 8:00 p.m. near the intersection of Norwich Street and Nomas Street.

Officials believe that the 17-year-old driver of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban SUV was speeding when he hit a dip in the road, lost control of his vehicle and hit the pickup truck.

The driver and his three passengers were thrown from the SUV on impact. One of the passengers died on impact while the driver and another passenger died from their fatal injuries on the way to the hospital.

The fourth passenger survived the accident but was taken to Parkland Hospital to receive treatment for multiple broken ribs. Fortunately, he is expected to recover.

The victims’ cousins were following the SUV in another car and saw the accident. They are cooperating with accident investigators.

Initially, police thought the crash was caused by street racing, but they have ruled that out as a contributing factor to the accident.

One police officer at the accident scene said he had not seen a Suburban sustain so much damage in his 12 years of law enforcement.

An uncle of the young men who died said he had told them about the dangers of speeding.

The pickup truck was a contractor’s vehicle that was left overnight at a property near the accident scene. The contractor planned on working on the property owner’s garage and carport the next morning.
