Staff Members Volunteer at Food Bank That Serves 13 Counties

volunteers at a food bankSeveral Anderson Cummings staff members recently volunteered their time at the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB). During their three hours of volunteering, they packed, moved and sorted mounds of food.

The TAFB stores donated food that supplies hunger-relief programs in 13 counties in North Texas. This includes the Farmers Market Nutrition Program, where farmers bring produce for families eligible for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) benefits.

In a typical month, the TAFB provides food to more than 53,000 households. More than 75 percent of households served by TAFB partner agencies live at or below the poverty line.

More than two-thirds of client households reported having to choose between food and transportation, utilities and medical care.

Hunger is also a significant problem among the elderly, as one of eight people served by the food bank are 60 years old or older.

Anderson & Cummings strives to be an active leader in the local community and encourages all of our staff members to volunteer or find other ways to get involved.

Thank you to the staff members who volunteered their time to help the less fortunate.
