UPDATE! Annual Scholarship Winner Announced

Izcan ortiz

The law offices of Anderson Cummings congratulate the winner of the 2020 Texas Scholarship of Academic Excellence Izcan Ortiz.

This academic scholarship is meant to assist full-time students enrolled in a degree program at a Texas college or university. To win the $1,500 scholarship, an applicant must demonstrate outstanding leadership and ethical standards on campus or in his or her local community.

Ortiz graduated from Central High School in Fort Worth and presented at a TEDx Youth talk to provide insight into his experience in education. Ortiz is also a youth representative for the Social Emotional Learning department in his school district where he has also spoken at the request of multiple educators in the community.

Overcoming challenges in his childhood, Ortiz created a tutoring business where he teaches clients how to connect with their own creative interests with the information taught to them.

Ortiz is majoring in Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin where he hopes to continue satisfying his passion for learning.

We chose Ortiz for the 2020 Texas Scholarship of Academic Excellence because we were impressed with his dedication to improvement and commitment to overcoming childhood challenges. He discussed these challenges in his essay. We are honored to provide him with this scholarship and wish him the best of luck in his future academic career.
