Denton Police shut down the sound bound lanes in the 800 block of Bell Avenue in Denton overnight, following the death of a 23 year old woman just near the Texas Woman’s University Campus.

The victim – described as Ms. Brenna Charless Taylor, a member of The Way Impact Christian Center and an interdisciplinary studies senior at the University – was hit by a vehicle at approximately 7:30 pm on Thursday evening and later passed at Denton Regional Medical Center as a result of the injuries that she sustained from the accident.

In a statement from Ms. Taylor’s long time friend Ms. Jackson Modisette:

She was very humble, she was a Godly woman…. You can be walking down the hall, having a bad day, and just to see her face can just brighten up everything. She was an angel on this Earth.

Officer Ryan Grelle – a spokesperson from the Denton Police Dept – has advised that while no charges nor arrests have been made at this stage, officers have photo-mapped the scene of the accident, in an effort to determine what happened.

Following the accident, many residents in Denton have called upon the local council to act, with District 1 City Councilman Mr. Kevin Roden stating on his blog that it’s time for the citizens of the city to come together and source ideas to help improve pedestrian safety.

While the investigation continues, the family has set up a donations website, which can be accessed by clicking “here”.

At the law offices of Anderson, Cummings & Drawhorn, LLP, we urge all drivers to remain alert when driving near or around pedestrian crosswalks or in crowded areas and to give yourself additional time to stop your vehicle in the event of an unexpected situation.

If you or someone that you love has suffered a serious or even fatal injury in a pedestrian vs. car collision, did you know that even if the driver does not have insurance, you may still be able to file a damages lawsuit to help recover compensation for your injuries and/or losses?
