A 28-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Friday, Nov. 13 around 7:00 p.m.
At the intersection of 1900 Moody Street and 2500 Harry Hines Boulevard, a black Nissan Maxima ran a red light and struck a Nissan truck that had a green light. The Maxima continued to travel and struck a man and woman standing on a nearby sidewalk.
One victim, a 26-year-old man from Arlington, was taken to Baylor Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The 26-year-old woman also struck in the wreck was listed in critical condition, but then died from her injuries on Saturday morning. The couple was walking to the nearby American Airlines Center to watch the basketball game when they were hit by the driver.
According to Dallas Police, Kevin Christman, 28, was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and now faces two charges of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle.
The lawyers and staff at Anderson, Cummings & Drawhorn send their deepest condolences to all the friends and family affected by this terrible tragedy.
As the end of the year nears, the risk of intoxicated drivers out on the road increases. About one quarter of all fatal DUI accidents in Texas occur during the last three months of the year. These types of accidents are also more likely to occur on Friday than during a weekday.
While we always encourage all drivers to never get behind the wheel while intoxicated, you can never determine or control if another motorist on the road is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you or someone you know is ever hurt or killed in a DUI accident, contact a licensed auto accident lawyer in Fort Worth at Anderson, Cummings & Drawhorn.
